6 simple steps to combat acne for men

It's not a controversial statement: Acne is awful. It was awful when you struggled with it in high school. It didn't help you in college either. And if it's still haunting your skin as an adult, it's still awful.

Some men have stubborn acne. This is especially true for those who are prone to acne – like those with oily skin. While you can’t change your skin type, there are a number of simple ways to combat acne. Use these 6 tips for better skin and fewer breakouts.

 

1 - Don't touch your face

Your dirty hands are full of bacteria and other impurities that can clog your pores. If you start your skincare routine with a cleanser and moisturizer designed for men in the morning, your skin will stay clean and clear in most circumstances. But your hands – not so much.

In your daily routine, your hands come into contact with all sorts of dirt. Then you scratch your face. Or you rub your eyes. Or you wipe your forehead. Or you pick your chin. And these bacteria get access to your skin. That's a problem.

Some men find a link between their skin rashes and their consumption of sugar, caffeine, and alcohol. If this is true for you, cut back on these dehydrating beverages.
